Skyrora at the Wonders of Space Family Festival

Skyrora was delighted to be invited by Heriot-Watt University to participate in the Wonders of Space Family Festival, held at the beautiful Archerfield Walled Garden as part of the Edinburgh Science Festival.
Organised with families and young learners in mind, the festival offered a joyful and educational atmosphere to explore the wonders of space. Skyrora’s team members — Derek Harris, Head of Business Development, and Emily Murphy, Business Development Associate — proudly represented the company at this inspiring event.
As part of the festival’s “show and tell” experience, Derek and Emily showcased 3D printed components from Skyrora’s engines and shared insights into the company’s innovations and achievements. They also spoke to attendees about the wide range of opportunities available in the UK’s fast-growing space sector — particularly in Scotland, where the ecosystem continues to expand.
“It’s always a privilege to meet the next generation of engineers, scientists, and explorers,” said Derek Harris. “Events like these give young people a real sense of how they can be part of something bigger — whether that’s through designing new technologies or helping the UK reach orbit from its own soil.”
A highlight of the day was the Dirleton Solar Walk — an outdoor experience designed to scale the solar system and ignite imaginations of all ages. More about the project can be found at dirleton.solar.
Skyrora is committed to supporting STEM outreach and education, helping to inspire future space professionals and foster a passion for science and technology in communities across the country.
We extend our warmest thanks to Heriot-Watt University and the Edinburgh Science Festival for inviting us to take part — and to every young mind that stopped by to learn, ask questions, and dream big.
