Today it was announced that the Welsh government has released its national space strategy – Wales: A Sustainable Space Nation which sets out various areas where the country hopes to lead growth, including in the development of greener fuels and reusable technology.

In response to the news CEO and founder of Skyrora, Volodymyr Levykin, said:

“The Welsh government should be commended for setting out their vision of a national space strategy, in particular highlighting the development of greener fuels and reusable technology. Scotland, the home of Skyrora, has already seen the economic benefit of becoming a key location for the UK’s new space industry with the creation of highly-skilled jobs and a growing number of opportunities for STEM graduates in the region.

It was encouraging to see space called out in the national levelling-up white paper as a key sector for driving innovation and growth. These opportunities must now be supported in areas such as Wales and Scotland where a growing number of launch companies and startups developing space technology are located. By placing the space industry as a key driver in the government’s levelling up plans, it can create opportunities for regions with strong industrial heritage that need new industries to boost their local economies. This will develop a truly national space strategy for the UK that the whole country can benefit from and be proud of.”
